Welcome to the News Page

We try to take at least a couple of photos or a very quick snippet of video most events so that you can see exactly what you can expect if you decide to book. Take a look down the posts below to see the kind of setup we provide, the music we can play, and most importantly of all, how we can rock the dance floor!

Please do remember though, that a big part of the job is choosing the right music for the crowd on the night, so please don’t worry if you don’t see a video where we play your favourite songs. The videos below are just a little sample of what we can offer. For more information about the types of music we can play, please do just take a look at the music page. And for photos of our setup before everybody gets on the dance floor just take a look at our equipment page too.

Laura & Tony's Wedding At Norwood Park, Southwell, Nottinghamshire

I was recently the DJ for Laura & Tony’s wedding at Norwood Park – a lovely venue in the town of Southwell in the Nottinghamshire countryside.

Laura & Tony were super-organised and booked me to DJ for them over a year in advance, I met them both at the venue to talk through their plans and ideas for the big day. At our meeting I found out that they had a relative who was a stand-up comedian and they wanted him to perform a little ‘set’ during the evening. They also had a surprise firework display planned later in the evening.

With all this information I was able to plan accordingly and brought a high quality wireless microphone and mic stand for the comedian, and I was able to make the  announcement at just the right time and direct guests outside for the surprise and help to make sure everything ran on time.

Regarding the music, Laura & Tony supplied a list of some of their favourite upbeat tunes and also some requests from their guests for me to put ‘in the mix’. Overall though, they were really keen for their guests to be on the dance floor having fun so deliberately didn’t provide a huge list of songs in advance. That way, I had the flexibility to ‘read the crowd’ on the night and play more what went down well at the time.

As you can see from the photos below, it looked like everybody had a great evening, with lots of guests out on the dance floor!

Hatherley Manor, Gloucester - Wedding DJ For Yasmin & Adam

A few weeks ago I was the DJ for Yasmin & Adam’s wedding at Hatherley Manor in Gloucester.

Before the day, the couple sent me over a play list of ‘must play’, ‘should play’ and ‘don’t play’ tracks to help tailor the soundtrack for their reception. Yasmin & Adam were after a mix of modern party tunes, chart music and some RnB style tracks too.

Using their playlist list and by reading the crowd reactions to the songs on the night, we kept the dance floor moving and it looks like everybody had a great night!

Wedding DJ At Beaumanor Hall For Chris & Vicki

A couple of weeks ago I was the DJ for Chris and Vicky’s wedding at the wonderful Beaumanor Hall, out in the scenic countryside of Leicestershire, just out near Loughborough.

As well as being the DJ, I also provided the sound and lighting equipment and also a classic ‘parquet’ (varnished wood finish) dance floor.

Below is a quick video of some of the highlights from the night including the first dance, and a few snippets of songs that went down well too.

If you listen closely, you might also hear some of the ‘beat mixing‘. This is where rather than just playing one song after another like an iPod would, the DJ (me in this case!) blends the start of one song into the end of another in a musical way, which all helps to add to the atmosphere and excitement on the dance floor

Langley Priory - Wedding DJ

I was recently the DJ for Catherine and Paul’s wedding reception at the beautiful and stately Langley Priory in Derbyshire.

As well as DJ’ing I also provided all of the sound and lighting equipment required.

As requested by Catherine and Paul, the music for the night consisted of party tunes with a more modern flavour and we rounded off the night with some indie classics!

Here are just a few snippets of video from the evening.

Beadles Lake Golf Club - Wedding DJ For Gemma & Keiran

Earlier in the summer, I was the DJ for Gemma and Kieran’s wedding reception at the lovely Beedle’s lake golf club in East Goscote, Leicestershire.

Gemma and Keiran really like their rock music as well as the more mainstream chart, RnB and dance tracks, so for their big day they wanted a really good mixture of styles.

As well as myself to DJ, Gemma and Kieran also had a singer to sing their first dance and a couple of tracks earlier in the evening. We provided the wireless microphone for the singer, played the backing tracks for her and made sure that everything sounded fantastic for the performance.

All the different styles of music went down very nicely, and the rock tunes at the end of the night got a great reaction from the crowd too!

Take a quick look at the video below to see for yourself.

Jamie & Frankie's Wedding Reception at Hothorpe Hall, Leicester

A couple of weeks ago I was the DJ for Jamie and Frankie’s wedding at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire. I also provided the sound and lighting equipment (mobile disco kit) and blue uplighting around the room to tie in with their colour scheme for the day.

Uplighting in royal blue at Hothorpe Hall, Leicester

I met with Frankie at Jamie before the big day to talk through their ideas for the music they wanted and how they wanted the evening to run. Jamie is really in to his house music and oldskool RnB and requested a few classics that he was really in to. Frankie is more in to the pop and party tunes so on the night I mixed between the two, and throwing in a few older classics too, to keep everybody entertained.

On the dance floor

It was decided that they were going to follow the tradition of doing a ‘father of the bride’ dance after the usual couple’s first dance. Because Bruno, Frankie’s father, is Italian, he wanted to have a few seconds of music from the ‘Godfather’ film as a little bit of fun, before kicking in to the real song choice.

As the DJ, I made all of the announcements required and made sure everything ran smoothly, and as you can see in the video below, it got a great reaction from the crowd.

Frankie and Jamie’s friends and family were really in the mood to party, and it certainly looked like everybody had a fantastic night!

Charlotte's 21st Birthday Party @ The Griffin Inn, Swithland, Leicester

Recently I was the DJ at Charlotte’s 21st birthday party and also provided all of the sound and lighting (mobile disco) equipment as well as venue uplighting for the event at the Griffin Inn, Swithland, Leicester.

Having DJ’ed there several times before, I know what a fantastic venue it is, both for birthdays and also for weddings as well.

A couple of weeks before the party, Charlotte emailed me a list of some of her favourite tunes she wanted me to include on the night. I was really impressed with her very eclectic selections, which some fantastic chilled out house music that worked really nicely as the ‘warm-up’ set for the first few hours whilst everybody was arriving and socialising. Then as the party got going I mixed in her oldshool RnB selections as well as some dance tunes (including House Every Weekend, of course! Excellent choice Charlotte), and even the odd cheesy party classic, then we rounded off the night with some sing-a-longs too.

It was a fantastic night with a crowd really in the mood for a party! I love gigs like this because everybody was up for a good time and I got to play a really wide selection of music. The dance tracks went down really well along with plenty of classic RnB, and even the odd cheesy party tune like the Macarena (they requested it so don’t blame me for that one!).

It looked like everybody had a great night and I it was fantastic to receive this facebook review afterwards:

“(5 Stars) We hired Andy for our daughters 21st Birthday Party at the Griffin Inn, Swithland and as with most of these things choosing the right person comes with a high degree of trepidation because you want to get everything right and don’t want a car crash of a disco. We needn’t have worried in this instance, Andy absolutely got everything spot on, he steered us towards the correct sort of equipment, in this instance the venue lighting, which was brilliant. He took our list of songs and dovetailed them into his set list, he was very polite and accommodating to all of our requests, we would absolutely recommend Andy for any special occasion with out doubt. Thank you Andy for helping to make a very special night special. Pete”

New Pics, Videos and Website Updates On The Way!

Well, they say time flies when you’re having fun, but I can’t quite believe where the last 12 months have gone! Since it’s flown past so quickly I can only assume that I must have been having a blast!

However, having all this fun DJ’ing at events, speaking to clients, doing site visits, sending out quotations, pre event meetings, and everything else has meant that this website has fallen by the wayside slightly. Fear not, because I have taken plenty of photos and videos at just about every event that I’ve DJ’ed at recently so I’m just about to begin clearing the backlog… now!

Please watch this space: new videos, new photos and all kinds of new stuff heading this way shortly.

P.S. This little beauty just arrived last week so I’ll be bringing you some much improved event photos from now on. Just as soon as I get to grips with what all the buttons do.

Bridge House Barn - Wedding DJ For Lil & Tom

I was recently the DJ for Lil and Tom’s wedding at the beautiful Bridge House Barn in Kibworth, Leicestershire.

Before the big day, I met with Lil & Tom to discuss their plans and find out a little more about their tastes in music.

On the big day, early in the evening, Lil had asked me to play some chart and party tunes for the kids to enjoy, then we moved on to party classics for the grownups, and finally finished off the night with an hour of hip hop and urban tracks as requested by Lil, Tom and their friends.

Here are just a few snippets of video from the evening, it certainly looked like everybody had a great time!

Leicester King Power Stadium – Wedding DJ & Mobile Disco

I was recently the DJ for a wedding at the fantastic King Power Stadium – home of Leicester City Football Club.

The bride and groom had asked for a mix of classic party tunes along with some indie tracks as well and it certainly looked as through everyone had a great night with lots of people out on the dance floor enjoying themselves and celebrating in style!

The night started with a performance from Leicester band ‘By The Rivers’, who plugged into the Taylor Taylor sound system and commented at the time about the excellent sound quality of our system.

You can hear just a short snippet of them at the start of the video below.

Quorn Country Hotel - Wedding DJ & Mobile Disco For Vijay & Aimee

I was recently the DJ for Vijay and Aimee’s wedding reception at Quorn Country Hotel in Leicester.

Vijay and Aimee were very keen to hire a DJ for their wedding that could ‘beatmix’ like a club DJ would, to seamless blend the songs together in a mix. Before they booked I made a quick ‘live mix’ for them featuring some of their favourite songs, so that they could hear the kind of thing that I do. You can watch the mini-mix over on our Youtube channel. Click here to watch the DJ mini-mix.

Music-wise, they wanted mainly up-to-date club/chart music, but with some party classics and one or two bhangra tracks thrown ‘in the mix’ as well. As you can see from the video it looks like everybody had a blast!

Manor House School, Ashby - Wedding DJ & Mobile Disco

I was recently the DJ for Sarah & Adrian’s wedding at the fantastic Manor House School in Ashby, Leicestershire.

Before the day, Sarah and Adrian sent over a list of ‘must play’, ‘should play’ and ‘definitely do not play’ songs, as well as a list of requests from their guests. This meant that I had a really good idea of what kinds of music would get everybody up on the dance floor on the night.

On the day itself the equipment was set up first thing in the morning, so that the afternoon reception wasn’t interrupted with the setup of the DJ equipment later in the day. This also meant that there was a wireless microphone available for the speeches during the afternoon and the facility to play background music using an ipod during the daytime.

I returned to DJ for the evening, and the mix of ‘classic’ wedding tracks, some cheesy 90s pop and then some sing-along anthems went down really well.

As you can see in the video below, it certainly looks like everybody had a great time!

Party Classics Wedding Reception at Quorn Grange Hotel, Leicestershire

On Saturday night I was the DJ for Amie & Stef’s wedding reception at Quorn Grange Hotel near Loughborough in Leicestershire. Here’s a quick little video of some of the tunes that went down well on the night.

Amie and Stef had provided me with a list of around 20 songs that they particularly wanted for the night, they were a mix of old and new classic party tunes so that gave me a good idea of the kind of music that would be right for the rest of the night.  As you can see in the video below, I’m pretty sure they had a good night!

No matter what your taste in music, whether it’s party classics that float your boat, or indie, dance, deep house , rock, reggae or anything else for that matter, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to find out how Taylor Taylor can make your your event memorable for all the right reasons.

Venue Uplighting, DJ & Mobile Disco at Donnington Park Farmhouse Hotel, Castle Donnington

A couple of weekends ago I was the DJ for Lois & David’s wedding at Donnington Park Farmhouse Hotel in Castle Donnington. We also provided venue lighting which transformed the whole of the old barn into a fantastic shade of pink for the evening. Our standard ‘mobile disco’ includes fantastic lighting for around the dance floor, but with venue lighting we go one step further and light up the whole edge of the whole room (or multiple rooms if you would like) in the colour or colours of your choice.

Music-wise, Lois & David really wanted mainly modern tunes with slight a slight leaning towards rock and indie but they still wanted lots of well-known songs that would get their friends on the dance floor, and with a few classics thrown in for good measure too.

We also organised something a bit different for their first dance. Because the happy couple didn’t want to have all eyes on them, we decided to be slightly unconventional and to gather all their guests around the dance floor and invite them all to join the happy couple at the start of the first dance rather than at the end as you would usually. It worked really well and I don’t think Lois and David’s friends minded being dragged onto the dance floor straight away. They had chosen “I Feel So Close To You Right Now” by Calvin Harris which is a great upbeat song that certainly got the party started!

Take a quick look at the video below to see the fantastic effect that the uplighting created.

If you think you might like me to DJ and/or provide venue uplighting for your wedding or event, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a friendly chat about how we can make your event even more memorable for all the right reasons.

Making Announcements at Events

When you hire a mobile DJ or disco for an important event like wedding or for corporate entertainment, it’d be nice to know exactly what you’ll be getting, that’s why I started taking quick videos at the events I DJ at. Then one day a little while ago I realised that it’s great to see a dance floor full of people enjoying themselves but maybe it would be useful if potential clients can actually see and hear me so they know who will turn up to their event. Here’s a quick video taken on New Years Eve at the fantastic Hoar Cross Hall in Burton on Trent where I was the DJ and provided the mobile disco set up as well.

I am definitely the sort of DJ who lets the music take centre stage and am not the cliche of ‘the mumbling wedding DJ’ that Peter Kay famously did an impression of… But sometimes, like the first dance at a wedding reception disco, or at the start of an event you need to take to the microphone. There’s just a quick snippet of me on the microphone at the start of the video and then some quick clips of a few of the songs that went down well on the night as well.
